I designed a website for a local gardening firm. This is still a work in progress but the design is finalised so I thought it would be nice to show you.
Hi my name is Olly Killick, I am a creative designer and I love it.
I believe the most important skill a designer can possess is the ability to step outside oneself and look at your work objectively. I strive to constantly push the boundaries and yet stay commercially focused. These things sometimes don't go hand in hand, but that's where another important skill lies. The ability to be creative and yet still retain that broad range of appeal. I believe it is possible to create intelligent visual communication by keeping the concept in mind, but also getting lots of feedback and opinion. I liken this process to say, beating a piece of metal into shape for use in a sculpture, except substituting hammers for opinions.
I always like to involve other people in my creative process because they can offer me something I can't do myself. They can look at the work through the eyes of someone who's never seen it before. I find that this is an invaluable source of feedback and a great chance to gain a fresh perspective on things.
